Ok, I saw this and couldn’t help but post.
I am a Brazilian and American citizen who grew up in Brazil, but my parents are from Atlanta. I went to college in Florida, and now I live in Oregon.
I call the beverage….coke! But, I usually correct myself and say soda because I got tired of hearing “aren’t you drinking dr. Pepper?” Buncha northern/western/y’all aren’t from these parts people…. 🙂
What do you call it?
I’m Canadian, the general term here is ‘pop’ but the brand name die-hards will refer to it as ‘coke’ or ‘pepsi’ or whatever it is that they love so dearly.

Coke! If you ask for a Coke in Texas, they’ll ask, “what kind?” (Dr. Pepper, Sprite, Root Beer, etc.)

I grew up in California and call everything, “soda.” My mom is from New York and calls it all, “soda pop.” Visited Tennessee and asked for a diet soda. I was served soda water!! 🙂

I’m from Indiana and have heard it called many things- I refer to it as pop in general, but I call it by specifics when I want one (big Pepsi fan!).
