I am very much in love with my KitchenAid mixer. Before Scott and I got married, a friend of our recommended that we get one. I was all for it, because I have always wanted one. I will say I had no idea how much I would love mine.
Fast forward to the two of us wandering through Target after the honeymoon. I was in search of a mixing bowl. I had cracked mine the day before the wedding (I kid you not, I was already stressed and then I broke my mixing bowl. It was not a fabulous moment and it scared the tar out of me.) While me and the giant cart were maneuvering through the kitchen section, he disappears! I tried not to be upset, but I was kind of grumpy. And then…there he comes, carrying the KitchenAid mixer. I just sat there staring at him while he dropped it in my buggy. He just smiled and said, “Is this the right color?”
I love it so much. I’m like a teenager with a new phone. It has a powerful motor (none of the wheezing hand mixers tend it make, it can handle anything!). I use it to make cakes and cookies, but it’s more versatile than that! The dough hook is awesome for breads (obviously), and the whisk is fabulous for making whipped cream. Several of my friends have bought the grinder attachment and use it to make ground beef. Here in Portland, we can get London Broil for $2.99 a pound, still cheaper than lean ground beef. Scott bought me the attachment that has the graters, and I’m excited to try it out. I have heard fabulous things about it. We also bought the flex beater attachment. (I just checked and the Amazon price is $10 cheaper than anywhere else I looked). It scrapes the side of the bowl while you’re mixing. No stopping the mixer and scraping it all down. It does it for you-it is so fantastic!
Did you know you can use it to shred meat? I cook about 4 chicken breasts with 2 cups of broth in the slow cooker for 6 hours. Then, pop it with some broth in the mixer. I have done it with chicken and pork, but you could probably do any meat, that way
So if you are looking for a new mixer…check out the KitchenAid-it’s worth the money.
