Reese’s Cake

Imagine it being Friday night, after a long week. You’re home in your comfiest close. And then-it hits. The massive craving for a Reese’s cup. or Reese’s pieces. Or the bite size Reese’s. And you pray that there is some in the house. But no!!!!!!!! There is only a jar of peanut butter. That happened to me. So, out of necessity, I came up with a simple, fantastic solution:Reese’s Cake. It’s a heavy peanut butter cake with an dense chocolate buttercream frosting. This is definitely a make again recipe!

Reese’s Cake

1/3 C butter
2 1/4 C flour
1 1/2 C sugar
1 T baking powder
1 t salt
1/3 C peanut butter
1 C milk
2 eggs
1 t vanilla

Cream together the butter and the peanut butter. (This is important, or else the peanut butter won’t spread evenly in the batter and it looks funky.) Alternate adding in the liquid and dry ingredients.  Beat until the batter is smooth. Pour into a greased 9×13 pan. Bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes. Let cool. Top with a chocolate icing. 🙂 Serve with milk or coffee.
